About Our Founder
Pop That Thang was born in 2023 when founder Sharifa came home after a long day working as a chef. Exhausted and hungry, she faced the all-too-familiar dilemma: no energy to cook, and barely anything in the pantry. After a quick scan of her sparse cabinet, she found one lonely item—popcorn kernels. Disappointed but determined, she put her culinary creativity to work.
Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management from Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, North Carolina, and years of experience in professional kitchens, Sharifa transformed those plain kernels into something extraordinary. Chef-inspired popcorn with elevated flavors—bold, buttery, messy in the best way—became her signature.
